By: Howard Andres

She sits right across the room and I have a front row seat,
to be her audience in a little private concert.
At first she hesitates and is unsure if she could play the familiar,
yet different instrument in her hands-
since it is not hers.
Upon a short warmup though a rhythm is set,
and the ringing notes of a classical tune is heard.
The melody builds up, the movement is faster,
long notes and high notes, she hits them all,
even the volume increases to a high-pitched twinge,
and of a sudden she laughs!
She thinks she's messed up, but I could not tell,
and she warily continues in her supposed embarrassment.

Soon her eyes close again in her entrance into deep concentration,
her well trained fingers moving flawlessly amongst the strings.
Pluck, pluck, pluck,
I sit in awe with her ability at such a young age,
doing something that I think I could never be able to do.
